Katarzyna Lappin

Oil, Watercolor

Katarzyna Lappin

Katarzyna Lappin is an award winning oil painter living in Chula Vista, CA. She is a Polish born, naturalized American. The beauty of Southern California strongly impacted her current style even though three decades ago her artistic background started with exploring the techniques of XVII century Dutch masters. She completed her first oil painting when she was 23 years old initially under private instructions of a professional artist and an art restorer. For Katarzyna the most important element in her work is to express the mood and the desirable light effects in her paintings. She works in oils, and watercolors mainly as a studio artist. She uses vibrant colors, strong light and shadow effects. She enjoys painting in three styles. One is the traditional representational approach which she uses for landscapes, the other one is a hyper realistic style she uses for her intense still life works and the third one is a whimsical realism where she bends and mixes all the rules to come up with artwork looking like a still shot from a dream. She conducts her art business since early 2010 and is involved in many local art groups and organizations.
