Tina Christiansen

Born June 19, 1954 in Dallas, Texas to a Navy family and therefore, raised in several states across the eastern and western US seaboard.

The Tina Christiansen Art Gallery located at 139 Orange Avenue in Coronado, California opened in 2009 and was operated until 2011. Tina owned and operated the gallery, where she exhibited her works and those of other island artists that she represented. She taught art and held open studio evenings where she hosted exhibits of work. She held live painting demonstrations on site. During this time she formed the Coronado Art Colony, a collaborative artists group.

2012-2104 Coronado Arts Commission, member of the Visual Artist’s working group. Tina performed duties as the visual artist event coordinator and contributed to the group’s successful efforts to construct a gallery exhibit space at the City’s community center.

Artist’s Retreat-by-the-Sea, Tina taught classes in water color techniques and held public demonstrations of water media painting hosted by the 1906 Historic Lodge in Coronado in 2014.

Murals at PetCo Corporate Headquarters, San Diego, California. Two works, “Reef Sharks” and “Parga Fish with Crepuscular Rays” were selected for large mural installations of 30 ft. x 50 ft. in size each. The murals were created by digital reproduction of original paintings by Tina, then printed for permanent installation inside the newly constructed corporate headquarters of Petco in 2015.
In April 2015 Tina retired from architectural practice and from her position as the Planning Director and Chief Building Official for the City of Solana Beach, California. She now resides in Coronado, CA with her husband of 32 years, Jim Cauthorn.
